The Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays (I feel like I say that about every holiday), but this one really brings me back to my childhood. Some of my fondest childhood memories were on the 4th with family and friends at the lake, spending all day in the water, eating endless amounts of watermelon, listening to Jimmy Buffet on repeat, and ending the day with, of course, fireworks!
It’s so fun to make new memories and traditions with my little family. My husband works incredibly hard during the week, so I crave that time to create memories with him and the girls. We decided we’re going to keep it low-key this year and have a camp out in the backyard! We’ve always wanted to do it and the idea of being able to go inside if one of the girls can’t sleep (or I miss my bed too much) sounds perfect!
I love dressing festive for the holiday, but wanted to wear something other than my usual denim shorts and red, white and blue flag shirt this year. I snagged this cute little romper for only $32 from Old Navy. The girl’s shirts and shorts are also from Old Navy!
Just because it’s the Fourth of July that doesn’t mean your apparel is required to include all of the colors of the flag. Opt for an outfit that subtly incorporates only one or two of the hues (red lipstick counts)!
If you’re looking for something to wear, but don’t want to be too literal about it (ie: American flag bikini), I found some super cute ways to incorporate red, white and blue into your look this year – just in time for your Fourth of July BBQ, beach day, or rooftop party. And P.S. – Anthropologie just released the most ridiculous sale that you might want to check out! Click the photos to shop.
I hope everyone has a great time celebrating!!
