So true story…when I was first pregnant with Delainey, I was so freaked out about the idea of getting stretch marks. It sounds ridiculous now, but I just remember obsessing over it and doing tons of research on what type of lotion I should use to avoid getting them. One morning, I woke up and went to lather my tummy up with my oils and noticed a bunch of lines around the bottom of my belly. I was only about 4 months pregnant and not even really showing much. I text David freeeeaaaaking out. “It’s already happening, I have tons of stretch marks!” He was a good hubby and consoled me and told me I’m beautiful with or without stretch marks. I realized shortly after… they were lines from my pajama pants!! Omg I felt SOO stupid!! I couldn’t even text David and let him know because I felt so dumb, haha! I think he even brought me flowers that night and I broke the news. He, of course, made so much fun of me!!

Better Butter

Anyways, my obsession with stretch marks has gotten progressively less with each pregnancy. And while I’m not paranoid about it anymore, I do still take every precaution to avoid them. I found this Better Butter made by Rocky Mountain Oils that I’m in LOVE with. As you can imagine, I’ve tried so many lotions and my skin feels the best after applying this one. It’s basically all of the most moisturizing butters combined into one. It is solid in the tub, but once you warm it in your hand, it goes on easily and doesn’t feel greasy after. You can also add your favorite essential oil to it. I like to add Rocky Mountain Oil’s coconut or avocado oil.

As you can see, I have a little helper. The girls looove putting lotion on my belly. Leighton will say “Here you go Mama, nice and smoooood” And then continue to push my popped-out belly button back in, ha! This is also perfect for dry feet or even lips!

Sugar Scrub

My other new obsession is sugar scrub. I have always heard great things about these, but have never actually tried them. Well, that all changed in Hawaii. At the spa they gave us little samples of their homemade sugar scrub. It was amazing!! My skin has never felt softer. I wrote down the recipe and have already made several batches since I got home. Delainey is hooked too. She has really bad eczema and we’ll use the scrub before her bath and her skin looks and feels so much better after. I also added a Lavender essential oil to my scrub. It’s not only a powerful antioxidant, but is an anti-inflammatory so works great on acne or other skin infections.

I got some jars from Michael’s and after making some, thought these would be such cute little gifts! See the not-so-secret recipe from Aulani below:

Lavender Sugar Scrub Recipe

(This makes a pretty large amount)

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup tapioca powder (this helps bind everything together – I found some at my local Whole Foods Market)
  • 5 tablespoons Rocky Mountain Fractionated Coconut Oil (add more or less for your consistency preference)
  • 4 drops of Rocky Mountain Lavender Essential Oil
  • Lavender petals
