Our Staycation at Dolphin Bay Resort and Spa

We have been getting SO much rain here in Cali lately. It’s great because we need it, but when you have little ones stuck inside for that many hours, we all tend to go a little stir crazy! We got a break in the rain a couple weekends ago and the forecast said it would be in the 70’s, so David and I jumped at the chance to do something fun with the girls outside. We decided to do a little weekend staycation. Staycations are our jam because you don’t have to spend a lot of money, you don’t have to deal with travelling with kiddos, and if you forget something (which is inevitable with three kids, you can always run home, ha!) We decided on our favorite place, Dolphin Bay Resort and Spa! We absolutely love going there, plus, they’re offering discounted room rates to locals right now (SLO and SB counties)! The service is great, the food is delicious and the rooms are amazingggg! There’s literally no bad room. Every room is a suite so they all have a full kitchen and washer/dryer. Every time we go I always wish we could just move right in. If you saw my stories, you saw how excited the girls were when we got to the room. They’ve stayed there several times and they always get just as excited as the last time. The staff always leaves a special gift for each of the girls with their name on it, so needless to say, they felt pretty special! There was also a bottle of Veuve and a fruit plate in the fridge for David and I. So, WE felt pretty special, too! They always leave an amenity for birthdays or anniversaries and can customize anything you dream up (rose petals, private dinner on the point, wine tasting excursion…anything!)

We stayed in the 2-bedroom executive suite and it was like a dream. Right on the water so we got the best view of the sunset and sunrise and literally fell asleep to the waves crashing. So cheesy, I know, but its true!

We arrived late afternoon on Saturday, dropped our stuff off at the room and headed straight for the pool. We swam until about 7:30pm. The girls are such little fishies and didn’t want to get out! The pool there is my favorite in our area, it’s soooo gorgeous. You look right out of the pool and right to the ocean. It doesn’t get any prettier.

Since going out to eat with 3 tired kiddos is pretty miserable, we decided to take advantage of the kitchen and room service. We cooked some pizzas and finished the night with dessert from room service (churro tower with ice cream and fresh berries with whipped cream. YUM.) The girls were SO pumped. They also have movies and games that you can check-out down in the lobby, which the girls always love to do.

That night David and binge-watched Ozark after the girls went to sleep, has anyone seen that?! So creepy and dark, but sooo addicting!

The next morning we woke up pretty early and went out on the balcony to watch the sunrise. Here on the coast, it’s common to be pretty foggy in the morning, but it was totally clear and so pretty.

I got ready and headed down to the spa. The spa is also offering 20% off treatments to locals through February, so I wanted to take advantage. I love the Spa at Dolphin Bay. The staff is so great and I always get the best treatments. I sat in the Infrared Sauna for 30 mins. I have never done that before and they had a whole pamphlet on the medical benefits of it. Holy moly, I had no idea! I’m pretty sure I sweat out every last drop of the Veuve and felt great. Next was a Salt Stone massage. I had never even heard of this one before and was intrigued.

A Himalayan Salt Stone Massage uses warm salt crystal stones to soothe away stress and tension, and promote an increased sense of well-being. It balances out your energy and your emotions – it was really interesting.

After the spa, I felt amazing and super hungry! The girls and David had been swimming all morning and were starving too. We all went to Dolphin Bay’s famous brunch! You guys. Their brunch is unreal. Lido seriously has best food EVER. It’s three courses. A fruit and greens to start, the main plate and then dessert. Along with bottomless mimosas! It’s also worth noting they’re offering 20% off lunch or brunch to locals Monday-Friday. They have a separate kids menu and Delainey and Mia got pasta and Leighton out-ordered both of them with the french toast – she was SO excited when they brought it!

David got the steak and eggs and I got the eggs florentine for our main plates. Both were delicious! Lido has a great happy hour too during the week from 3-6pm and live music every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 5-8pm. It’s SO fun!

A quick funny story about the pictures above. David got me a tripod and remote for my camera for Christmas. It’s like he doesn’t want to take all of my pictures or something?? Haha! But we decided to use it to take a coupe family pics. Well, my camera wasn’t compatible with the remote so we had to use the 10 second timer. David would press the button and sprint over to throw Mia in the air while trying to look natural! We were all laughing SO hard! They’re not the best pics of us but the memory of taking them was so funny I had to include them!

With that said, they have an onsite photographer who will take family photos for you while you’re there! Pretty sure they’d turn out A LOT better than ours lol.

We had the best time and can’t wait to do it again. Everything was perfect and we all had a blast! I love that they treat the locals so great with their discounts! It’s always a little depressing to leave any kind of vacation, but let me just say – the fact that it was an 8-minute drive home made it SO much easier haha!  If you’re in need of a little stay-cation, I would HIGHLY recommend doing Dolphin Bay!
